Getting a tattoo may soon be pain-free and take a lot less time. Researchers at the Georgia Institute of Technology developed a tattoo that can be self-administered. Microneedles are arranged on adhesive patches. Those patches can be pressed into the skin and deposit the ink. “We saw this as an opportunity to leverage our work on microneedle technology to make tattoos more accessible,” said Mark Prausnitz, principal investigator. “While some people are willing to accept the pain and time required for a tattoo, we thought others might prefer a tattoo that is simply pressed onto the skin and does not hurt.” The researchers don't believe microneedle patches will replace traditional tattooing, especially for larger pieces. However, they believe it could be an alternative for small images or letters. “The goal isn’t to replace all tattoos, which are often works of beauty created by tattoo artists,” Prausnitz said. Since ink spreads slightly over time, make sure your design isn't too small to prevent blurring. Double-check that the date or spelling of the word you want tattooed is correct. Even though word and number tattoos may seem simple, there's plenty to consider before going under the gun. So Insider spoke with tattoo artists to learn about the common mistakes people make when getting text inked. Ink migration is inevitable, so make sure your tattoo is properly spaced Tattoo and permanent-makeup artist Lisa Doll told Insider inked words or numbers can often blur together and become illegible, so it's important to consider the size and spacing of each figure to "allow for ink migration over time." "Sometimes, the clients will bring me a calligraphy font but want to get it super small without realizing how much risk it is for the ink to blow out under the skin and the fancy script to bleed together," Copán told Insider. "Other times they will bring a thick or complicated style that won't work with the size and placement they want." Consider the overall design of the tattoo and ask your artist for their professional input to figure out which font makes the most sense.

Try to avoid inking areas that are prone to fading Feet tattoos may fade more quickly.Nadtochiy/Getty Images If you want your ink to stand the test of time, tattoo artist Nic El, owner of Gorilla Tattoo Paphos, told Insider that clients should "avoid areas that are prone to fading" like "palms, fingers, feet, elbows, and knees." If you're set on placement in one of these areas, El suggested making sure the font you select is bold and reasonably sized for the best results. Also consider what other tattoos you may want before deciding on your placement When determining the placement of your word, tattoo artist Cassie May said to consider your long-term body-art plans. "Placement can make or break the future of your tattoo plans," she said.

are used in medicine to cover up scars, guide repeated cancer radiation treatments, or restore nipples after breast surgery. Tattoos also can be used instead of bracelets as medical alerts to communicate serious medical conditions such as diabetes, epilepsy, or allergies. Various cosmetic products using microneedles are already on the market mostly for anti-aging but developing microneedle technology for tattoos is new. Prausnitz, a veteran in this area, has studied microneedle patches for years to painlessly administer drugs and vaccines to the skin without the need for hypodermic needles. “We saw this as an opportunity to leverage our work on microneedle technology to make tattoos more accessible,” Prausnitz said. “While some people are willing to accept the pain and time required for a tattoo, we thought others might prefer a tattoo that is simply pressed onto the skin and does not hurt.”  Transforming Tattooing Tattoos typically use large needles to puncture repeatedly into the skin to get a good image, a time-consuming and painful process. The Georgia Tech team has developed microneedles that are smaller than a grain of sand and are made of tattoo ink encased in a dissolvable matrix. “Because the microneedles are made of tattoo ink, they deposit the ink in the skin very efficiently,” said Li, the lead author of the study. In this way, the microneedles can be pressed into the skin just once and then dissolve, leaving the ink in the skin after a few minutes without bleeding.   Tattooing Technique Although most microneedle patches... .

“Up” crooner went live on Instagram and showed off the facial ink she’s been keeping under wraps for most of the summer, and it’s a sight to behold. While the rapper, hairstylist Luis Santana, and tattoo artist Robinson De Los Santos have all teased Cardi B’s face tattoo in recent weeks, her Instagram Live video on Saturday, Sept. 10 was the first opportunity she’s given fans to see her ink up close. As it turns out, the delicate red tattoo is a tribute to Cardi B’s son, Wave, who was born in September 2021. Delicate tattoos are always in style, especially as a way to honor loved ones, and Cardi B’s ink is surprisingly low-key for a face tattoo. Personally, when I think of tattoos from the neckline up, I don’t usually think, “subtle,” but that’s exactly the vibe Cardi B has going on. In fact, the tattoo is so subtle that it’s almost hard to make out. I wouldn’t have clocked it at all if Cardi B hadn’t pulled back her hair and pointed out the delicate “Wave” written in script. In the video, the rapper goes out of her way to mention that she doesn't have a filter on either, making the delicacy of her tattoo all the more impressive. The rich, brick shade of ink she chose and the location of the tattoo it’s along her jawline, so it can be easily covered with a swish of her hair keeps the tattoo from drawing the eye away... .

considerably low-key, Rose’s face tattoos are definitely over-the-top. That said, both Cardi B and Rose can easily cover their tattoos with makeup. The reason fans have been waiting so long to find out what Cardi B’s face tattoo says is because the rapper used makeup and filters to keep her tattoo under wraps. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad Cardi shared her touching tribute to her son with the world, but I’m also really impressed that she was able to keep a face tattoo so under the radar. Leave it to Cardi B to keep fans guessing. It’s kind of her style, after all. Be the first to know what's trending, straight from Elite Daily Cardi B has given fans a glimpse of her brand-new face tattoo. Last month, hairstylist Luis Santana posted a video showing the “I Like It” rapper getting some red ink added to her jawline during a visit to a tattoo studio. While Cardi didn’t share any further details at the time, she revealed the full design during an Instagram Live on Saturday. Lifting her hair to show off her new body art, the star explained that she decided to have her 12-month-old son Wave’s name inked in red cursive script on her face. “I tatted my son’s name because I love him,” she said of her little boy, whom she shares with her husband Offset. In addition, Cardi shared that she also has a new tattoo tribute for her four-year-old daughter Kulture. “And... .

I just thought that that was a little inappropriate. “So I just went ahead and got a simple portrait of her as she is, because she doesn’t need to be tarnished up with tattoos - she is pretty much incredible as she is. Ms Cooper, from Knutsford, Cheshire, added: “It’s not necessarily that I’m a fan of the royals, but it’s the Queen. “I’m not a royalist but I did take my family down to London over the weekend and went and laid some flowers. It’s just respectful, she’s basically Great Britain.” Award-winning tattoo artist Alessio Catanzani, of Redemption Tattoo Studio in Sheffield, said it was an “immense honour” to reproduce the Queen’s likeness. Falon Cooper had the image inked across her thigh (Alessio Catanzani / SWNS) He said: “I think it was an immense honour to tattoo the queen in this very important period. “I am so happy that people have liked it after all the effort that has been made in making this.” Ms Cooper said: “I knew that it would be incredible because Alessio was doing it, there was no doubt as he is an amazing artist. “When he finished it, I was just so pleased with it.” Boss Jordan Stringfellow, 30, said: “The tattoo is brilliant.
